Biren Technology se prépare à une introduction en bourse, rivalisant avec Nvidia
A Chinese AI GPU developer, rivaling Nvidia, is preparing for an initial public offering (IPO), according to South China Morning Post. Valued at $2.19 billion last November, the company has been moving towards an IPO for over a year now.
The IPO Preparation Process
Biren Technology has enlisted the help of Guotai Junan Securities to assist them in the necessary IPO preparation stage. This process usually takes between three to twelve months.
Competing with Nvidia and AMD
Biren Technology aims to fill the gap left by Nvidia and AMD, whose advanced chips are restricted from being sold to Chinese entities due to U.S. export limitations.
Challenges and Developments
Despite being blacklisted by the U.S. Commerce Department, Biren Technology has had to adapt by developing simplified versions of their GPUs. The company has raised over $780 million through eight funding rounds, with one of its main investors being the venture capital firm HongShan.
The growth of China’s semiconductor industry has led to the emergence of several unicorns in recent years, raising concerns about the sector’s reliance on state-backed investments.
