Bluesky introduces TikTok-like features to attract more users

Bluesky’s new vertical videos tab feature

Bluesky, a competitor of X (formerly Twitter), has recently introduced a new feature that allows users to view vertical videos in a custom tab, similar to ByteDance’s TikTok. This feature includes a trending videos section in the explore tab on the mobile application, where users can swipe up to view more content, much like “Reels”. Users also have the option to pin their favorite videos to their home screen or add them to their list of feeds.

Bluesky’s strategy to gain more users

In an effort to attract a larger user base, Bluesky has implemented features that are reminiscent of those offered by TikTok. These new features aim to serve Bluesky’s existing 28 million users globally and entice smartphone users who may have left TikTok prematurely. Bluesky users will now have access to a trending video section in the explore tab, allowing them to easily swipe up on videos to discover more content. Stay tuned for the global availability of Bluesky’s latest feature.
