Google Drive lance les légendes automatiques pour les vidéos : boostez votre productivité !

Automatically generate captions for your videos on Google Drive
Improved search system with auto-generated captions
Google Drive now offers a new feature that automatically generates captions for your uploaded videos. This feature creates a transcription of the audio in your videos, allowing you to download and use the transcriptions to enhance Drive’s file search system.
According to reports, this feature is currently being rolled out. However, it will only work automatically on new videos that are uploaded after receiving the update. It does not retroactively work on older videos, requiring you to manually request captions for each file individually.
To request captions for an older video on Google Drive, simply right-click on the file, select “Manage caption tracks,” and then click on “Generate automatic captions.” Alternatively, you can also find this option while playing a video by clicking on the three-dot menu at the top right of the player.
It’s important to note that the process may not be very fast. In a test conducted by Android Police on a 6-minute video, it took around 10 minutes to complete the transcription. Google is expected to optimize the auto-generated captions in the future to make the process faster and more efficient.
Enhanced productivity and search capabilities
The new auto captions in Google Drive not only boost productivity but also enhance the search system. Users can now search for captioned videos by typing a phrase or word spoken in the video. This eliminates the need to remember specific file names, which is particularly beneficial for users who save files with generic default names.
Users can download the generated captions in a .vtt file format for their needs. They also have the ability to edit sections of the transcription to correct any errors. Just like on YouTube, captions can be accessed from the CC button in the video player interface.
