Google Maps Offline Arrives on Wear OS Smartwatches

Google recently unveiled a new feature at its latest event for Wear OS smartwatches, introducing offline Google Maps functionality for devices such as the Pixel Watch 3 and Samsung’s Galaxy Watch series. This new feature is set to revolutionize navigation on your smartwatch, allowing you to access maps without an internet connection.

Support for Pixel Watch and Galaxy Watch Devices

The much-anticipated offline Google Maps feature is now available for Wear OS smartwatches, including the latest Pixel Watch 3 and even the previous Pixel Watch 2. Users of Samsung’s Galaxy Watch series can also enjoy this new functionality, making it easier to navigate on the go.

The beta version “11.140.0701.W” of the app on the Pixel Watch 2 includes the offline Google Maps feature, accessible through the “Offline maps” menu. Samsung Galaxy Watch series users can also benefit from this feature, with support rolling out to the Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch Ultra models.

Ease of Navigation Without Connectivity

With this new feature update, Wear OS smartwatch users can navigate using Google Maps even without an internet connection. Simply open the app and enjoy seamless navigation on your smartwatch, with offline maps downloaded automatically from your phone. You can also manage the space taken up by these maps and delete them as needed directly from your wrist.

Whether you have a Wi-Fi-only smartwatch or one with LTE capabilities, you can now navigate offline without any hassle. This feature is set to enhance the user experience for those on the go, ensuring that you can always find your way, regardless of your connectivity status.
