OnePlus 13 et 13R : Pourquoi ils utilisent toujours un chargeur USB-A?
OnePlus 13 and 13R: Sticking to USB-A charger
OnePlus has recently launched the new OnePlus 13 and OnePlus 13R smartphones, both still featuring 80W charging with a USB-A charging brick. But why this choice? Let’s delve into the reasons behind this decision.
Cost-effective Strategy
Despite the OnePlus 13’s price increase to $899, it remains $400 cheaper than the Galaxy S24 Ultra. The use of a USB-A charger instead of a USB-C one comes down to cost-efficiency. OnePlus believes that including a USB-A charger in the box is more economical than a USB-C charger, especially a high-speed one capable of 80W or even 100W charging.
USB-C PD Support
While the OnePlus 13 and 13R come with a USB-A charging brick, they now support USB-C Power Delivery (PD). This means users can utilize a PD charger to power up their devices. OnePlus will also offer a new 80W GaN USB-C PD charger for $49.99 ($69.99 in Canada), providing a more versatile charging solution.
The GaN charger features a dual-port design with both USB-C and USB-A ports, capable of a combined output of up to 120W. It will be exclusively available on the OnePlus store, catering to users’ needs for efficient charging.
Cost-efficient Approach
OnePlus’s decision to stick to USB-A charging aligns with its overall strategy of prioritizing cost-effectiveness. The company has previously made similar choices, such as forgoing an official IP rating or omitting wireless charging in some models. By focusing on offering a premium flagship experience at a lower price point compared to competitors like Samsung and Apple, OnePlus aims to appeal to budget-conscious consumers.
