OPPO is known for its high-quality camera phones, often competing for the title of “best camera phone” in the Android market. The upcoming OPPO Find X8 series is no exception, as it will feature a dedicated camera button inspired by the iPhone 16 series.
Apple’s iPhone 16 series introduced a dedicated physical button to enhance the camera experience, allowing users to launch the camera app, set focus, take photos, and control zoom with a touch and pressure sensitive button. Sony also stands out in the Android market for including a dedicated shutter button on its flagship phones.
Now, OPPO has announced that the Find X8 series will include a similar dedicated camera button. Zhou Yibao, product manager for OPPO Find products, confirmed this feature with a short video on Weibo, showcasing how the button will work. While there are some differences, such as requiring a double-tap to launch the camera app, the zoom control via gestures on the button remains consistent with what Apple offers.
A dedicated camera button can greatly improve the user experience, allowing for easier zoom control and possibly even app launching. The launch of the OPPO Find X8 series is scheduled for October 24 in China, with a global release expected in 2025. This will mark the first time that the premium “Ultra” model is available globally, intensifying the competition for the best camera phone worldwide.
